A new Furnace was installed in the building that will be turned on for meeting nights during the cold weather.
Jim Walsh will be our Guest Speaker at our February Meeting.

Firearms Instructor Eagle Tovar has handgun safety training classes coming up on February 1 and one on February 12th. If anybody’s interested in taking the class, please go to our website under the “Training Tab” and contact him via email. Those dates are already set on the calendar for the training.  The indoor range is closed during the classes. The remaining shooting areas remain open during shooting class unless otherwise noted.

Hunter Education.  Our Hunters Ed guy Randy Day is trying to set up a class for some time in February.  If you know any kids that need to take the Hunter’s Ed class, please have their parents/guardians contact Randy.

OLD BUSINESS

Guest Waivers.  Riley mentioned the necessity of legibly filling out the forms for any guests you bring to the range.  There is a log book near the front door with guest names added monthly.  If your guest isn’t in the log book please fill out a waiver form and this time make it legible.

Club Member email addresses.  New members are asked to go to our website, go down to the Join Us tab.  There’s a block in there. All you have to do is just put your name and put new member and just send it.    Do NOT click the unsubscribe link on the bottom of club emails.  You will have to resubscribe with a new email address.  You may also send an email to:  graysharborgunclub2000@yahoo.com
Type “New Member” in the subject line place your name in the body of the email and send.   That allows us to correctly add your email to the email list so you will be aware of range closures, work parties and events at the club.  PLEASE NOTE: All email will be from “GunClub”.

Treasurer Report was not given as Laura Sharp is out of town.

Meeting Minutes.  The minutes from the October 21 meeting were read and approved.

COMMITTEE REP0RTS

Committee reports were given by Jerry Charlton – Black Powder, Gary Emberley  – Pistol League.
Memorial for Lance Fry.  Jake will speak with Lance’s wife about the memorial for Lance and will send out an email with info.

Range Safety Equipment.  Roy spoke about First Aid Kits, Trauma Kits and phones available on the range property.  He asked that if the phone rings while you are in the Gun Club building – please answer it.  The Trauma Kit on the upper range has been resupplied after it was rifled through.

Parking Areas.  Roy mentioned that there are some soft spots in the grass areas so be careful parking.  It is common for someone to get stuck every meeting night.

For the Good Of The Order.  A question was asked about putting up a wind direction flag and a club member volunteered to take care of it.
A question was asked whether the 50 State Concealed Carry Permit signed by President Trump will be in effect in Washington State.  The consensus is that probably will not be available because the state has sovereignty over gun laws in the state.  It was suggested to ask Jim Walsh next month.

Club Elections.  We take nominations in January, February and March for President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and one Trustee.  Trustees serve a three year term so every year a different Trustees’ position opens up.  Elections:  Last date for nominations is March 17, 2026 Meeting which will be followed by the election at the same meeting. Jake Matsen was the only one nominated so far for president position. If you wish to run for a position just come to a meeting and volunteer .

NEW MEMBERS.  19 new members of the club were voted in as a group.

01/25/26 – CLUB NEWS

(1/25/2026)   Hello GHRPC Members.

Just a little bit of news to share with you.

Jim Walsh is scheduled to be our guest speaker at the February 17th meeting. We always have a big crowd on those nights, so we are asking everyone to please park in an orderly manner and don’t take any more space than needed.

Just thought I would let you know that we installed a electric furnace at the indoor range. We are only going to be using it during club meetings. This will help keep our power bill down.

Eagle Tovar will be having a firearms training class, lower range, Sunday February 1st   and Thursday the 12th.  The lower range will be closed from 12noon to 5pm on these dates, but all outdoor ranges will be open. If you wish to join Eagles class, please contact him at JJAWA3@Comcast.net .  These are live fire classes

This is also the time of year that we elect officers for the club. We take nominations at meetings in January, February and March. We hold the election at the end of the March meeting. So far the only nomination we received is for Jake Matsen for club president.

That is all the news for now. The meeting minutes should be out within a few days.

GHRPC Announcement

(11/02/2025) Hello GHRPC Members.

Yesterday I was contacted by one of our members about a robbery at his home. He stated that the thieves managed to beat the lock face from his safe, punch the mechanism through and released the cross bolts.
The thieves made off with several rifles and shotguns then went into his garage and helped themselves to several items from there.

The only upside to this is he had recorded the make and serial numbers of his weapons.  He wished to remain anonymous but asked me to inform our members of this theft.

This man had one of the old safes that had been made from steel plate, not the ones like we buy today made from sheet metal. The only thing thick is the door.

I know that most of our members have taken some kind of precaution to protect our valuables but for those that have not I would like to offer a suggestion.

Take a full inventory of your weapons and valuables. Write down the make, model and serial number of ALL your weapons. Make several copies and store them in random areas. Do not store all of the copies in your home. If there were a fire you would lose the information. If you plan to be away, ask a neighbor or friend to keep an eye on your house.

If you are one of the unlucky ones that gets robbed, give the police a copy of your list.  More than likely you will have to do some of your own leg work to recover your things. Make sure all of the gun shops and pawn brokers in your area have a list of what is stolen. If you travel outside your area, drop copies of you list at gun shops in other towns.

These are tough times for honest trusting people who think this would never happen to them. You all know the kind of people that are attracted to our country and county
Thank You
Riley Morris
