| (11/02/2025) Hello GHRPC Members. Yesterday I was contacted by one of our members about a robbery at his home. He stated that the thieves managed to beat the lock face from his safe, punch the mechanism through and released the cross bolts. The thieves made off with several rifles and shotguns then went into his garage and helped themselves to several items from there. The only upside to this is he had recorded the make and serial numbers of his weapons. He wished to remain anonymous but asked me to inform our members of this theft. This man had one of the old safes that had been made from steel plate, not the ones like we buy today made from sheet metal. The only thing thick is the door. I know that most of our members have taken some kind of precaution to protect our valuables but for those that have not I would like to offer a suggestion. Take a full inventory of your weapons and valuables. Write down the make, model and serial number of ALL your weapons. Make several copies and store them in random areas. Do not store all of the copies in your home. If there were a fire you would lose the information. If you plan to be away, ask a neighbor or friend to keep an eye on your house. If you are one of the unlucky ones that gets robbed, give the police a copy of your list. More than likely you will have to do some of your own leg work to recover your things. Make sure all of the gun shops and pawn brokers in your area have a list of what is stolen. If you travel outside your area, drop copies of you list at gun shops in other towns. These are tough times for honest trusting people who think this would never happen to them. You all know the kind of people that are attracted to our country and county Thank You Riley Morris |
